What we do:

The Edmonton Financial Empowerment Collaborative (EFEC) consists of over 30 community partners, governments and businesses who work together to improve financial stability. EFEC meets monthly to coordinate and promote opportunities for those who are financially vulnerable to acquire knowledge, skills and access to financial empowerment resources and services.

empower u

Empower U combines financial literacy programs with a 1:2 matched savings component. This means every dollar saved by group participants generates two dollars in matched contributions.

Empower U is open to people of diverse backgrounds who are experiencing low income and poverty. While the primary focus of Empower U is on women, one agency, Norwood Child and Family Resource Centre is open to both men and women living with low income. Matched savings may be used only for designated purposes related to improving their financial circumstances. These purchases could include a range of purchases related to improving their education, employability or housing stability. Learn more
